We don't handle Medicaid or CHIP enrollment directly, but we can help you understand whether those programs might be a better fit for your family than an ACA Marketplace plan.
Medicaid is a government health program for people and families with lower incomes. Eligibility varies by state, but in most states adults qualify at or below 138% of the Federal Poverty Level (roughly $21,597 for a single person or $44,367 for a family of four in 2026). CHIP (Children's Health Insurance Program) covers children in families who earn too much for Medicaid but still need affordable coverage. Both programs have no Open Enrollment deadline and are available year-round.
If your income is low enough that Medicaid may apply, applying through HealthCare.gov or your state's Medicaid office is the right next step. HealthCare.gov will automatically screen your application for Medicaid and CHIP eligibility when you apply. If you'd rather call, your state Medicaid office can walk you through the process.
Where we can help is if your income is above the Medicaid threshold and you're looking at ACA Marketplace plans. Many families in that range qualify for premium tax credits that make Marketplace coverage much more affordable than they expect. And if your children qualify for CHIP while you enroll in a Marketplace plan yourself, that's a combination worth exploring.
